Pantograph is a term for a coninuous line design. A pantograph can be copied and continued in any direction. Your eye should flow from one end of the project to the next without noticing where designs connect.
Pantographs are typically used for quilts, as an edge-to-edge design, with the purpose of joining or "quilting" the backing, batting, and quilt top together. Pantographs can also be used for fabric decorating, such as in home dec.
